Reds ready to close out Brewers

Straily cuts down eight, allows two runs

Dan Straily pitched a career high eight innings and gave up only two runs on three hits while striking out eight batters as the outfield complimented his effort with great team defense.  The win ups Straily’s stats to 12-8 with a 3.81 ERA and ties a five game winning streak for the Reds.

“I’m the benefactor of that success with great defense and the very-well-put-together scouting reports I receive before each start,” Straily said.   “Good things happen when you let the guys hit the baseball. I want contact. I want the weakest contact possible, and I want it right at somebody. I know that’s asking for a lot. That’s just what I’ve learned over my years.”

The Reds (62-82, 5th NL Central) have the opportunity to sweep the Milwaukee Brewers (64-81, 4th NL Central) tonight at The Great American Ballpark.  Taking the mound for the Reds will send out rookie Tim Adleman (2-3, 3.88 ERA) while the Brewers will send out Junior Guerra (8-3, 2.96 ERA).  For Guerra, it will be his third start after being shelved for a month on the DL.

Plenty of great seats and affordable tickets are still available for tonight’s game so be sure to grab a friend and your tickets and get out and support your Cincinnati Reds tonight!
