Votto placed on DL

First Baseman Joey Votto was placed on the disabled list for the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday afternoon due to a leg injury.  Votto was placed on the 15-day DL retroactive to May 16th.

“We don’t want to give Joey a week off and then have Joey slightly improved from when we left him,” Price said after Wednesday’s 2-1 win. “We may not be able to get him to 100 percent during the year, but 90 percent would be a lot better than 50 percent.”

The reinstated Outfielder Jay Bruce off the 15-day disabled list after a surgery to repair a torn meniscus.

The Red begin a 3-game home stand against the St. Louis Cardinals beginning today.  Plenty of great seats and cheap tickets are still available.

Reds ready to retake NL Central

After flaming out in the playoffs last season on the wave of 90-72 regular season record and, after the firing of Manager Dusty Baker after said playoffs, the Cincinnati Reds are preparing and expecting to get back to the playoffs this season.

With the promotion of pitching coach Bryan Price to Manager, the Reds stayed in house which should help him in the long run.

“What he’ll bring is a fresh approach to our club and some new ideas,” general manager Walt Jocketty said. “He’ll hold guys accountable for their performance.”
